The Tale Of The Cloud and The Wind
There was a clear blue sky swept clean by the cold March wind.
One small cloud lingered to dance with the wind for a while
The wind had such a scowl on his face
The cloud had just the trace of a smile
The wind whistled and whined, I will come to you or you may come to me
But you’ll not match my fury before I snatch you away into eternity
The cloud said catch me if you can for I feel brave today.
You won’t blow me away.
The wind raced straight for the cloud
The cloud began to giggle out loud
Leaves scattered in fear
A crow huddled in an old oak hoping the wind would be still
Even wise old trees bent to the winds will
but the cloud waited to the last second and caught the wind like a wave
And rode his crest until the wind slowed to a stop
The cloud jumped off and taunted the wind
You boasted of your strength but you are really a flop
it seems that you are barely a swamp gas, at best a gust
You could not even blow dust
The wind grew angry and found new energy to race after the cloud
All afternoon they darted about the afternoon sky
The wind lunged and the cloud would retreat
The wind came at the cloud from every direction
He came from above and underneath, the wind came at every angle
The cloud did a pirouette and the wind and cloud began to Tango
And so it was that they did their dance until the sun grew tired of the sight
The sun warmed them both so that the wind slowed down and the cloud began to glow
The cloud blushed pink when the wind finally caught her and they kissed
And as the sun went down, he said to them both, “goodnight”.
